Denver's Got Some New Michelin-Starred Restaurants

The 2025 Michelin guide is here, and Denver's got 3 new additions, plus its first two-star restaurant. Kizaki, Margot, and Mezcaleria Alma all earned their first star this year. Moreover, The Wolf's Tailor has been awarded its second star! This brings the total number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Denver to nine. In addition, several restaurants received the Bib Gourmand, which denotes places with high-quality meals at lower prices. You can see the full 2025 Michelin guide here.
New Broncos Stadium Location Announced

Broncos owners Greg Penner and Carrie Walton Penner have announced the preferred stadium site will be Burnham Yard in the heart of Denver. A former railyard that played a key role in Denver's past, Burnham Yard now offers the opportunity to be renewed and generate billions of dollars in new economic opportunity. Denver Zoo's African Lion Araali Gives Birth To Four Cubs

On Wednesday, August 13, Denver Zoo's African lion Araali gave birth to four adorable cubs! The cubs are now spending some quality time with their mom before being introduced to the rest of the pack. The cub cam is now live if you want to see these cuties with their mom.
DIA's New East Security Checkpoint Now Open

The new east security checkpoint at DIA is now open! The checkpoint is retrofitted with state-of-the-art machines to make heading through security faster and easier. It has replaced the south security, which is now closed. The east checkpoint welcomes standard flyers, those with TSA Precheck, and restricted access passengers such as military personnel. Catch Some Meteor Showers Tonight

Denver's National Women's Soccer Team Has A Name

Colorado Has A New Area Code

As of July 7, Colorado's got a brand new area code. Communities including Aspen, Breckenridge, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Glenwood Springs, Greeley, Loveland, and more will now have access to the 748 area code. The old area code, 970, still has some numbers left, however, so we probably won't see numbers with the new area code until later this year.
Federal Theatre To Become Denver's Newest Venue

We absolutely love live music over here at Do303 (if you couldn't tell), so we were incredibly excited to hear that Federal Theatre will become Denver's newest music venue. Helmed by the same folks running Oriental Theater and HQ, Federal Theatre promises the same type of eclectic bookings with everything from music to comedy to wrestling to burlesque shows and more. The venue is set to open this September and we can't wait! Frasca Food And Wine Wins James Beard Award

Boulder's Frasca Food and Wine has been awarded the 2025 James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant. While it has won other James Beard Awards in the past, this is the first time in this category. Its previous wins have been Outstanding Service in 2019, Outstanding Wine Program in 2013, and Best Chef (Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson) in 2008. Sounds like a visit is in order soon!
RTD's Free MetroRide Service Is Back

Denver's Getting A New Stadium

Denver is getting a new stadium to house the new National Women's Soccer team! The stadium will be built at Sante Fe Yards (Broadway and I-25) and hold 14,500 people. Denver Parks & Recreation wants to help you plant a tree! If you have room in the public right-of-way adjacent to your property, you may even be eligible to have a free tree planted for you. After 50 years, Mercury Cafe is sadly closing its doors. The Five Points staple will close at the end of the month, but it's not all bad news. The owners of queer bar Pearl Divers will be picking up the lease and promise to keep all current employees and most things as they are. We recommend a visit either way before the end of the month.
Baby Giraffe Born At Denver Zoo

Denver Zoo's reticulated giraffe BB gave birth to a healthy male calf on Friday, March 7. The birth went smoothly and is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Giraffe Species Survival Program (SSP), which works to ensure the long-term survival of this Endangered species. The birth of this calf is a significant step in giraffe conservation efforts, helping to maintain a genetically healthy population in human care. Read more here.
Denver To Boulder RTD Train Could Come This Decade

A Denver to Boulder train has long been the dream of both Boulder and Denver residents alike. That dream may be getting closer to becoming a reality. The RTD, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the Front Range Passenger Rail District have been working together to make that a reality by January 1, 2029. An analysis released by the RTD board recently helped place costs for three round trip rides from Fort Collins to Denver (with a stop in Boulder) a day. You can read more at CPR.

Ruby Hill Rail Yard has officially opened for the 2025 season! This season, the rail yard features newly designed rails, boxes, and configurations to accommodate skill levels from beginner to advanced. In addition, starting Friday, February 2, 2025, DPR will be offering free rental equipment, including snowboards, boots, helmets, and snow tubes, on Fridays from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., and Saturdays & Sundays from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Get more info here.

Denver's Getting A New Park

The City of Denver has made a deal to acquire the Park Hill Golf Course to turn it into the city's 4th largest park. Acquiring the former Park Hill Golf Course will give 155 acres of land back to the community with walking trails, native plant species, a mature canopy provided by hundreds of trees, a dog park, and much more. Winter Park Express Expanded Service Is Now Running

Winter Park Express Expands Service & Lowers Prices For 2024-2025 Season

Denver's E-Bike Rebate Opening Up Again

Denver’s e-bike rebate voucher is re-opening at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29. Eligible Denverites may be able to save as much as $1,200 on an e-bike or $900 on an e-cargo bike. Mutiny Information Cafe Is Moving Locations

Mutiny Information Cafe announced on August 7 that due to the building it calls home being sold, the business will have to close up shop at the current 2 South Broadway location. While the Baker neighborhood will sorely miss this local staple, it's not all bad news. The store will move down the street to a new location at 3483 South Broadway in Englewood. The final day at the current location will be September 22 with the reopening scheduled for October 4.
Minimum Wage Increasing In 2025

Denver's local minimum wage is set to increase on January 1, 2025. The minimum wage will increase from $18.29 to $18.81 and the minimum wage for tipped food and beverage workers will be $15.79 per hour provided they earn at least $3.02 in actual tips. Ramp To Southbound I-25 From Broadway Closes

Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) has announced that the on-ramp to southbound I-25 from Broadway at Kentucky Avenue has permanently closed. This ramp is being replaced by a brand new elevated ramp to southbound I-25 at Ohio Avenue. While the ramp from Broadway to southbound I-25 is closed, drivers can access southbound I-25 from Mississippi Avenue and S. Buchtel Boulevard or Alameda Avenue and Kalamath Street. Get To Know The Summer Watering Rules

With the summertime comes a new round of summer watering rules. These rules help keep water consumption low while keeping your lawn healthy and looking good. Some of the rules this year include:
- Water during cooler times of the day — lawn watering is NOT allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Water two days per week, adding a third day only when needed. (Watering more than three days is not allowed.)
- Do not allow water to pool in gutters, streets and alleys.
- Do not waste water by letting it spray on concrete and asphalt.

You Could Get A Property Tax Refund Of $1,000

Believe it or not, the November elections are practically around the corner and a lot is at stake. Not only will the presidency be on the ballot this year but so will several important state measures. These include a new excise tax on gun and ammunition sales, removing the same-sex marriage ban from the state constitution, allowing the state to keep all taxes from sports betting, and more, some of which are still gathering signatures so expect a lot. After Governor Polis signed an executive order to allow to-go alcohol sales during the pandemic to help give restaurants extra revenue, it was put into law on a trail basis in 2021. Now, after a succesful run, the bill has been made permanent. That's a win for restaurants and customers alike!
